May you live in interesting times - a new school year begins
I remember when I was still a kiddo, in 1989 when the Berlin wall was teared down, one of my teachers told us that those were very interesting times we'd been living in. I've heard those words a few times more over the years, but I've never been sure if I should be happy for those 'interesting' times or rather worry and stress a little.
New historical, economical events and cultural and political changes brings us new evidences of those interesting times. And those changes not always are welcomed with a happy dance and hugs and kisses. The year of 2020 could be the best example of how drastically our daily lives can switch in just a few months.
Here we are, in the last part of August, facing yet another 'uncharted territory' of beginning the school year in the virtual world . Back in May, June we still hoped for our old normal to be back again but it just hasn't happened yet. The pandemic hasn't gone away, it is still here and our school has been forced to open its doors only in the virtual way. We have to admit, that we are lucky enough to live in times and places which allow us to meet via electronic devices when social distancing rules and other safety requirements are still in place.
It was good to see those of you, who met us via Zoom session last Saturday. So many familiar faces as well as new ones. It gives us hope, that we will get through it all together stronger, more experienced for sure. Some of our students have decided to furlough their student status until the classes resume in the real live, which we hope will happen in January. We understand and respect those decisions, but we miss you non the less.
Either way, we'd like to thank all of you who joined us last Saturday. For those who missed the Zoom session, we have video link below to the fragments of that meeting. If you do have any questions, please contact your teachers, BOD members. Please, let's stay in contact in those 'interesting' times! Have a great new school year everyone!
